Kentucky woman killed in head-on crash

| Jan 18, 2019 | Car Accidents

Three Kentucky children have been left without a mother after a head-on crash took the life of a 45-year-old woman.

The mother, from Union, Kentucky, was driving her 12-year-old twins to school when her Honda Accord was hit by a flatbed truck. Her third child, a boy who is a high school junior, drove his own car to school that morning.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office reported the woman was traveling westbound on Richwood Road in Walton when the Honda was hit by the truck driven by a 42-year-old man. He had driven slightly off the right side of the roadway, and when he maneuvered the truck back onto the road, it went across the center line and hit the Honda.

The woman suffered fatal injuries. The twins were taken to the hospital and released.

The woman had worked as a school guidance counselor in the Boone County School District but took early retirement in June to spend time with her children.

“They were the love of her life,” a friend and former colleague told the Cincinnati Enquirer. “She was so looking forward to being retired and the time she was going to be able to spend (with her children). That’s what breaks my heart.”

The truck driver was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with injuries that weren’t life threatening.

The accident is under investigation.

The three children this woman loved so much now will be under the care of other family members. They will need emotional and financial support moving forward. An experienced attorney car accident attorney can help the family discuss its options on how to proceed.
