Biker killed in Louisville accident apparently involving DUI

There are few better ways to enjoy the scenery of the Bluegrass State than on a motorcycle. From the eastern Brakes to the Land Between the Lakes, the crisp air of Kentucky is alluring to bikers both local and from out of state. But the dangers remain the same for all people on motorcycles.

The protections of bikes on the road are far less than for drivers and passengers of cars and trucks. An accident at any speed could mean serious injury or even death for bikers. Sadly, that is what happened recently near Louisville's Iroquois Park when a driver struck two motorcyclists early on a Sunday morning.

Police believe the 24-year-old driver was intoxicated by alcohol when he struck two bikes, as he smelled strongly of the drink, and he refused a sobriety test after the crash. One man died the next day under hospital care, while the identity and condition of the other victim was not immediately apparent.

The driver was arrested on charges of assault, murder and operating a vehicle under the influence. Family members, union brothers and friends of the deceased victim began to mourn with stories of his generosity and commitment to his family.

Financial help can never bring a valued life back to the people who treasured it, but they can help with recovery and the expenses that come with the end of life. An attorney can work with the survivors of the victims of motorcycle accidents to ensure they get a fair chance to make a claim in civil court against the people who caused a crash.
