Driving requires a high level of concentration and devotion to the task at hand. While most Kentucky drivers understand this, people can very easily become distracted while behind the wheel of a moving vehicle. Eating, drinking, using a cellphone or even talking with passengers can cause a driver to lose focus, and a driver that is distracted for even a few seconds can cause a tragic situation ending in serious injury or even death. A driver involved in a recent fatal accident was very likely distracted at the time.
The incident happened early in the afternoon at an intersection in Bowling Green. According to the Bowling Green Police Department, a southbound vehicle attempted a left-hand turn that placed it in the path of a northbound motorcycle. The motorcycle crashed into the side of the turning vehicle. The motorcyclist, a 39-year-old man from Stanford, was ejected from his bike and then collided with a second southbound vehicle.
Reportedly, responders provided aid to the motorcyclist. He was then transported by ambulance to a local hospital, but sadly, once there, he was pronounced dead. Police are continuing their investigation into the crash.
Although the investigation into this accident is ongoing, authorities may find the evidence reveals negligence on the part of the driver who was making the turn. If so, the driver could be held accountable through the Kentucky civil justice system. While nothing will bring their loved one back, the deceased man’s family may consider talking to an attorney experienced in this area of the law. He or she can discuss options, including the possibility of a wrongful death lawsuit. Following tragic accidents such as this one, a victim’s family typically suffers substantial monetary losses, and a successful suit can help them recover some of this, as well as provide some comfort during a very difficult time.
